H
olly the Boxer (2yrs and 3mths)
Holly was 6 mths old when she began her training in the puppy class at WTCI with Lorna on 1st February 2015. It went well except for her wrestling with another puppy in her class. That was the beginning.
Holly took up her second term of training on 10th May 2015 at 9 mths of age at level 1 with Michelle. She still had an issue with jumping on her classmates and still wouldn't concentrate.
She took level 1 again on 10th January 2016, this time our trainer was Julie, and the issue this time was meet and greet. I couldn't stop to talk to anyone on our walk because Holly would greet by jumping up on them. I was at my wits end.
By the end of that training term there was a great improvement. Holly was recommended to wear the gentle leader collar and the change in her was remarkable.
On 14th February 2016 Holly began competition obedience with Julie and we have been training every week since. We work very hard and have fun training.
On Sunday 9th October 2016 at the AGM of WTCI Holly and I were awarded for the most improved dog and handler for 2016 a plaque with hers and my name on it along with others going back to 1984 and a Rosette that she keeps trying to eat. I was totally shocked and delighted I wasn't expecting anything like that.
The Boxer who couldn't mind her own business and did only what she wanted to do has turned the corner. She is now a willing pupil and eager to learn with lots of treats, and encouragement and patience from our wonderful trainer Julie.
