New Barn for Dogsaid

2/25/2011

Picture
WTCI committee were delighted to accept the invite to the opening of Dog's Aid Animal Sanctuary “Barn”. It was a privilege to see just how hard working and dedicated the volunteers are and how much their new barn will make a life changing difference for both people and the Dogs Aid dogs. Everyone was in high spirits with great excitement to see Linda Martin cut the ribbon. Even though it was great to see the improvements it is still obvious just how much dogs Aid need support. WTCI will pass on any old collars and leads, toys or bedding you may still have!! Check out their website www.dogsaid.ie Thanks to Darren from puppipix for the pictures !

Working Trial Feb 2011

2/20/2011

Working Trials Club of Ireland Held at Kilteel on 19th Febuary 2011  Judge Caroline Woods Many thanks to Nigel who took over my usual job of secretary for this trial as well as being trials manager. Thanks also to the track layers Judith and Miranda, search square steward Dougie and Miriam who sent the food. Miranda also did C and A and all the CD for me. Last but certainly not least, the Reynolds for the use of their land.

CD  1st Q Edwina Dunne and Alfie. GSD. 83. Good search and retrieve, excellent C and A.  Just let down by down stay. 25,38.5,19.5  I was delighted to give this pair their second qualifier, making Alfie CDEx

UD Tracking was on short grass. It was beautiful weather.

1st  NQ  Best track. Jeff Poole and Ziva. BC. 175.5. First time out for this cracking bitch. Would have qualified but for the down stay. 88.5,20, 30.5,16.5,20.

2nd   Ger Philpott and Frost.  Weimeraner. Good track and search. 88,20,30.5. Things fell apart a bit in the C and A.

2 others were in the UD. Ed who didn’t get all the track, so wisely saved Alfie for the CD. Anne and Purdey who did a training track and search.

2/14/2011

WTCI would like to wish the very best of luck and enjoyment to one of it's members, Liam O'Brien and his dog Mojo Star of Nulikim for their forthcoming trip to Crufts 2011. Liam & Mojo qualified last August at the Fingal Agility Show to represent Ireland at the International Agility event at this years Crufts Dog Show.
Liam would like to express his sincerest gratitude to the committee & fellow members of the Working Trials Club of Ireland for their generous donation. He says " I am delighted to be representing Ireland at Crufts this year with Mojo & now thanks to your donation I don't have to worry about the finances & I can concentrate on our training. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have wished me well."

Yesterdays Open Agility Show

2/7/2011

Hopefully everyone got home safe and sound if not mud free, after yesterdays show in Tymon. The weather worked against us again at this show. Agility in particular was not as easy as it can be but as competitors in Ireland we are no strangers to weather related changes on the day . Well done to Kirsty Jess our Agility Judge for the day. She had a tough job adjusting and building courses to challenge us but always with our personal & canine safety in mind. Well done to all competitors whether you brought home no rosettes or a handful. Many of our class members were competing for the first time and they all did very well - it is a huge stepping stone to compete and you all did very well.
